The House Appropriations Committee today approved the fiscal year 2015 Legislative Branch Appropriations bill, to provide annual funding for the offices of Members of the House of Representatives, the support agencies of Congress, including security, services for visitors, and Capitol operations and maintenance.

In response to the potential Endangered Species Act (ESA) listing of the sage grouse, which looms over 11 Western states, including Nevada, Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) today introduced H.R. 4419, the Sage-Grouse and Endangered Species Conservation and Protection Act.

Washington, D.C. -- Senators Harry Reid and Dean Heller and Representatives Joe Heck, Mark Amodei, Dina Titus and Steven Horsford will jointly host this year's Academy Information Sessions in Northern and Southern Nevada. This annual event gives high school sophomores and juniors interested in a military education a chance to ask questions and learn about opportunities available at service academies in the United States.

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives moved to protect privately held water rights from federal takings, passing H.R. 3189, the Water Rights Protection Act, 238 to 174. Introduced by Reps. Scott Tipton (CO-3) and Mark Amodei (NV-2), along with original cosponsors Reps. Rob Bishop (UT-1) and Tom McClintock (CA-4), the legislation responds to U.S. Forest Service (USFS) attempts to take private water rights in disregard of state of law and the objections of elected officials, business owners, private property advocates and a U.S. District Court.

Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) today announced he will hold a veterans' town hall meeting in Minden on Thursday, March 20, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, in the Old Historic Courthouse, 1616 8th Street. Parking and access for the disabled is located in the rear of the building.

Congressman Mark Amodei's "Fernley Economic Self-Determination Act" today passed the full House as part of a larger package of public lands legislation. It is the first bill from a group of seven Nevada lands bills recently passed out of the Natural Resources Committee to be brought to the House floor for a vote.
