WASHINGTON, D.C. --House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers announced this week Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) will serve as Vice Chair of the Legislative Branch Appropriations Subcommittee for the 114th Congress. He will serve as Chair of the subcommittee in the absence of Chairman Tom Graves (GA-14) and assist him in official committee duties.

“The Vice Chairs for the Appropriations Committee have distinguished themselves as knowledgeable on the appropriations process and are committed to responsible budgeting,” Chairman Rogers said. “These Members will play an integral role in bringing each of the 12 Appropriations bills from Subcommittee to the House floor, and I know that they will live up to the demands of the job over what I expect will be a tough but successful appropriations year.”

“I look forward to working with Rep. Amodei in his new role as vice chairman,” said Rep. Graves. “His knowledge of the appropriations process and commitment to the subcommittee’s important oversight role will help us make sure every taxpayer dollar under the purview of our subcommittee is spent wisely.”

“I want to thank Chairmen Rogers and Graves for their support and the opportunity to play an active role in the oversight of how our tax dollars are spent,” said Rep. Amodei. “I look forward to continuing to build a strong Appropriations network to foster a better understanding within Congress of the spending issues critical to Nevada and the West.”

The Legislative Branch Appropriations Subcommittee oversees funding for the House of Representatives, the Architect of the Capitol, Capitol Police, Congressional Budget Office, Government Accountability Office, Government Publishing Office and the Library of Congress, among other areas of jurisdiction.
