WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers today announced the Republican membership of the 12 appropriations subcommittees for the 114th Congress. Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) traded his seat on Commerce, Justice, Science for one on Interior, a key move for Nevada. He will continue to serve on the Financial Services and Legislative Branch subcommittees.
“I want to thank Chairman Rogers for giving Nevada a seat on the Interior appropriations subcommittee. It is invaluable to have oversight and input into the operations and funding of the Interior Department, which directly and indirectly controls more than 80 percent of our state. We are already engaged in the blue-collar daily work that will hopefully lead to more responsive and thoughtful policies from Washington, D.C. regarding federal land use in Nevada and the West. I look forward to continuing to work with Subcommittee Chairman Calvert as a member of his committee, as well as in my role as Vice Chair of the Western Caucus, to provide a strong voice for Western issues in the appropriations process,” said Amodei.
“Every single member of the Appropriations Committee plays a vital role in steering federal dollars on behalf of the American taxpayer. The next two years will bring many fiscal challenges, and our Committee members will have an enormous responsibility – overseeing hundreds of billions of dollars – but I have full faith everyone is more than up to the task. These members embody the Committee’s long tradition of nose-to-the-grindstone hard work, careful decision-making and thoughtful deliberation, and quite frankly, they know how to get things done. I am honored and proud to serve alongside each of them in the 114th Congress,” said Chairman Rogers.
