WASHINGTON, D.C. -- House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers announced this week Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) will serve as Vice Chair of the Legislative Branch Appropriations Subcommittee for the 114th Congress. He will serve as Chair of the subcommittee in the absence of Chairman Tom Graves (GA-14) and assist him in official committee duties.

Chief of Staff Rick Goddard is departing Capitol Hill to return to his native Georgia and Legislative Director Bruce Miller will be elevated to chief of staff. Senior Legislative Assistant Jason Riederer will become legislative director.

(Washington, DC) – United States Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) teamed with Congressmen Mark Amodei (NV-02), Joe Heck (NV-03), and Cresent Hardy (NV-04) to introduce the Nevada Land Sovereignty Act of 2015. Congressman Amodei introduced a companion bill in the United States House of Representatives. The legislation prevents the threat of executive action designating or expanding national monuments without Congressional approval or local support.

Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) traded his seat on Commerce, Justice, Science for one on Interior, a key move for Nevada. He will continue to serve on the Financial Services and Legislative Branch subcommittees.

Today, Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) voted in favor of H.R. 240, the FY 2015 Homeland Security (DHS) Appropriations bill, which included amendments to defund the President's executive action on immigration. The legislation passed 236 to 191. The vote makes good on the House Republican strategy to use a three-month Continuing Resolution (CR) to delay a vote on the DHS appropriations bill until that time it could be passed and sent to a Republican-controlled Senate in the 114th Congress.

Former Chairman Steve Pearce (NM-02) will step into the position of Chairman Emeritus along with Representative Rob Bishop (UT-01). In addition, Congressman Scott Tipton (CO-03), Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-02), and Congressman Paul Gosar (AZ-04) were named Vice Chairmen for the upcoming Congress.
