WASHINGTON, D.C. --Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) today announced senior staff changes for his Washington, D.C. office. Chief of Staff Rick Goddard is departing Capitol Hill to return to his native Georgia and Legislative Director Bruce Miller will be elevated to chief of staff. Senior Legislative Assistant Jason Riederer will become legislative director.
“I want to thank Rick for providing real service to the people of Nevada. Following the special election in September of 2011, his expertise and knowledge of Capitol Hill was invaluable with respect to standing up an office, hiring experienced staff and hitting the ground running, which made a big difference for the Silver State in the form of legislative success and constituent service,” said Amodei.
Goddard, a veteran of six U.S. House, Senate and Presidential campaigns, with official positions in the House and Senate, joined Amodei's office following six years with a professional trade association. A 1998 graduate of the University of Arizona, he is the father of two.
He will be succeeded by Bruce Miller, who served as Amodei’s legislative director since October of 2011. With more than 12 years of campaign and legislative experience, Miller came to Amodei's office from the Republican Study Committee (RSC) where he advised RSC members and staff with analysis and vote recommendations. He is a 2002 graduate of the University of Colorado.
“Bruce has overseen a legislative shop with one of the best batting averages in Congress for getting bills passed out of committee and through the House, with several notable successes, including a historic Northern Nevada lands package, signed into law. His understanding of the legislative process and navigating D.C. gridlock will make him a capable chief of staff,” said Amodei.
Miller will be succeeded by Jason Riederer, who served as Amodei’s senior legislative assistant since November of 2011. His portfolio for Amodei included the Natural Resources Committee, Interior Appropriations and the Western Caucus.
“Jason’s hard work has been instrumental in the ability of this office to advance Nevada’s priorities in Congress. I’m confident that ethic and success will continue in his new role as legislative director,” said Amodei.
Prior to joining Amodei’s office, Riederer interned with the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and was a legislative correspondent for Rep. Joe Heck. He is a 2009 graduate of Walla Walla University.
