House Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers today announced the Republican membership of the 12 appropriations subcommittees for the 114th Congress. Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) traded his seat on Commerce, Justice, Science for one on Interior, a key move for Nevada. He will continue to serve on the Financial Services and Legislative Branch subcommittees.

Today, Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) voted in favor of H.R. 240, the FY 2015 Homeland Security (DHS) Appropriations bill, which included amendments to defund the President's executive action on immigration. The legislation passed 236 to 191. The vote makes good on the House Republican strategy to use a three-month Continuing Resolution (CR) to delay a vote on the DHS appropriations bill until that time it could be passed and sent to a Republican-controlled Senate in the 114th Congress.

Members of the Congressional Western Caucus announced today that Congressman Cynthia Lummis (WY-At Large) will Chair the caucus for the 114th Congress. Former Chairman Steve Pearce (NM-02) will step into the position of Chairman Emeritus along with Representative Rob Bishop (UT-01). In addition, Congressman Scott Tipton (CO-03), Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-02), and Congressman Paul Gosar (AZ-04) were named Vice Chairmen for the upcoming Congress.

Today, language introduced by Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) to delay for one year any potential Endangered Species Act (ESA) listing of the sage hen was included in H.R. 83, the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act of 2015, which passed the House 219 to 206. Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) today voted for and the House passed H.R. 83, the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act of 2015, 219 to 206. The bill would fully fund 11 of 12 regular appropriations bills through September 30, 2015 and would fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under a Continuing Resolution (CR) until February 27, 2015.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, in a big moment for Northern Nevada, a historic package of lands bills – six introduced by Rep. Mark Amodei (NV-2) and one by Rep. Steven Horsford (NV-4) –passed the Senate as part of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Also included in the defense spending bill was Rep. Horsford's Tule Springs legislation for Southern Nevada. The bills now move on to the President to be signed into law.
