WASHINGTON, D.C.– Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) today issued the following statement regarding his yes vote on H.R. 933 to fund the government through September (FY2013). The funding bill passed the House yesterday with a bipartisan vote of 267 to 151, with 53 Democrats voting yes.

“For all the accusations of obstructionism that go with government by crisis, I would like to point out that this is yet another case where the House has done its job well in advance of the 11th hour. The House has passed multiple budgets, as well as two sequester fixes in the last Congress, which is when that ‘crisis’ should have been addressed, as opposed to waiting until the deadline passed.

“Whether you agree with the work product or not, these bills are open, transparent starting points from which compromises can be crafted in conference between the two chambers. The House consistently fulfills its duty to the American people and this vote is an example of doing so in a bipartisan way.”
