Last week, President Trump signed H.J.Res.31, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2019 into law. This legislation will secure our southern border, and fund the remaining seven appropriations bills – Agriculture, Commerce-Justice-Science, Financial Services, Homeland Security, Interior, State-Foreign Operations, and Transportation-Housing & Urban Development – through the end of the Fiscal Year.

Washington Wrap-Up
S. 47 – the Natural Resources Management Act
The Natural Resources Management Act recently passed out of the Senate by a recorded vote of 92-8. Included in this legislation is a portion of a bill I introduced in January, H.R. 253, the Nevada Lands Bill Technical Corrections Act of 2019. The measures included in this package will create long-term economic prosperity across our state and strengthen Nevada’s conservation efforts by responsibly authorizing land development and restoration projects in Storey County and Lincoln County. I’m pleased to see this legislation advance through the Senate and look forward to it coming before the full House for a vote. I will continue working with my colleagues in the House for common-sense policies that give businesses in Nevada increased opportunities for growth and success.

Recent Travels, Meeting Highlights, & More
It’s always nice to see familiar faces whether I’m in Washington or home in Nevada. Below are some highlights from my recent travels across CD-2 and visits with Nevadans in D.C.
JANUARY 2019:
WASHINGTON, D.C.
Rep. Dina Titus (NV-01)
As part of my friendly wager with Rep. Dina Titus on the Battle for Nevada football game between the Wolf Pack and the Runnin’ Rebels, it’s tradition the losing Member present the winner with the Freemont Cannon trophy while sporting their attire. A deal is a deal, but I’m pretty confident the Wolf Pack will bounce back next year. Nevada football still leads in all-time wins against UNLV 27-17…I like those odds! GO PACK!
Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve
National Federation for the Blind
Last month, I had the opportunity to visit with representatives from Las Vegas, Reno, Sparks, and Henderson who were in town with the National Federation for the Blind. We discussed important issues related to blind individuals such as education, economic opportunity, and civil rights.
Gragg Wilson
I recently had the opportunity to meet with Gragg Wilson of Reno. Gragg is a professional driver from FedEx Freight who is a finalist to become a member of the 2019 America’s Road Team, a national public outreach program educating fellow motorists and the general public about safety and security on the highway. The 33 finalists consist of drivers from across the nation who demonstrate superior driving skills, maintain remarkable safety records, and who are committed to spreading the word about safety on the highway.
Kevin Wall - "Live and Local"
I recently called into Kevin Wall's radio show "Live and Local" to discuss border security, the facts surrounding the latest government shutdown, and the work I’ve been doing in Washington. Click here or on the photo above to hear our full conversation.

Elko Daily Free Press Editorial Board Meeting
While I was out in the rurals this month, I had an editorial board meeting with the Elko Daily Free Press to discuss some of the effects the most recent government shutdown had on our rural communities. Click here for excerpts from my interview.
Cowboy Arts & Gear Museum Tour
After my editorial board meeting, my staff and I had the opportunity to tour the new Cowboy Arts & Gear Museum off Commercial Street. I’d like to extend a special thanks to Jan Petersen, the museum’s director, for taking the time to show us around. The Cowboy Arts & Gear Museum is a non-profit museum showcasing western and cowboy heritage. Be sure to stop by if you’re in the area!
Picon Club Breakfast
Before heading back to Carson, I hosted a Picon Breakfast to receive updates from community leaders about important projects and developments in the area. These meetings are a great way for me to bring folks together, listen to their concerns, and discuss meaningful solutions to Western challenges and the work I’m doing in Washington. Thanks to everyone who came out.
