WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) today thanked House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings (WA-4) for his public support to markup several lands bills important to Northern Nevada next month, including H.R. 696, the Lyon County Economic Development and Conservation Act, H.R. 433, the Pine Forest Range Recreation Enhancement Act, and other bills introduced by Amodei in 2013.

“I am grateful to Chairman Hastings for his show of support today, which is very good news indeed for Northern Nevada,” said Amodei. “We’ve come a long way from passing the Yerington bill in the House last Congress as an economic development measure to this Congress – advancing what should be a comprehensive group of bills for the Silver State. I want to also thank Rep. Steven Horsford (NV-4) for his work with the Democratic membership of the Committee, which has been invaluable. I look forward to continuing this effort with my colleagues and to a productive markup in January.”

Chairman Hastings made the following remarks today at the last Natural Resources Committee hearing of the year:

“Finally, it was my hope that a last markup of the year could occur this week. Regrettably, that wasn’t possible for tomorrow. We’ll now look ahead to early January to continue the hard work begun this year... There is also public lands and wilderness legislation that Representative Mark Amodei has been tirelessly working to advance. Due to his persistent efforts, action will occur in January. These are not easy issues. They require careful consideration and thoughtful action to ensure they are done right. That’s how we’ve approached our work at this Committee, and we’ll continue to do so in January.”
