Economic development and conservation bills span Silver State
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) today praised the House Natural Resources Committee announcement that it will markup a package of Northern Nevada public lands bills on Tuesday, January 28 at 10:00 a.m. ET, 7:00 a.m. PT. The series of measures will enable economic development and conservation efforts across Northern Nevada.
Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings (WA-4) in December said, “(this is) public lands and wilderness legislation that Representative Mark Amodei has been tirelessly working to advance. Due to his persistent efforts, action will occur in January.”
“These measures are about small town Nevada and how the middle class in our state earns a living in recreation, mining and community development,” said Amodei. “We want Nevadans in communities across the state to have a voice when it comes to their own future and the future of their land. I look forward to the swift progression of this package to the House floor for final passage and acknowledgment by the Senate of these priorities followed by action on their part,” said Amodei. “I want to thank Chairman Hastings for making good on his word and for his continued support to get these worthy bills the opportunity they deserve.”
The Nevada public lands bills to be bundled and marked-up as one bill include:
H.R. 433, the Pine Forest Range Recreation Enhancement Act
H.R. 696, the Lyon County Economic Development and Conservation Act
H.R. 1167, the Restoring Storey County Act
H.R. 1168, the Carlin Economic Self-Determination Act
H.R. 1169, the Naval Air Station Fallon Housing and Safety Development Act
H.R. 1170, the Fernley Economic Self-Determination Act
