February 2, 2016

WASHINGTON, DC–Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) today released the following statement after the House’s vote to overturn President Obama’s veto of the Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Act, a bill to repeal the most damaging parts of Obamacare:

“Today’s vote to override President Obama’s veto proves the House is committed to putting patients first.
“The President’s decision to veto this piece of legislation was not at all surprising. This action is coming from an Administration who shoved an unworkable law through Congress, claiming it would lower costs and improve care. After the fact, Obamacare architect, Jonathan Gruber, said the law was actually designed to create a ‘lack of transparency’ and that it never would have succeeded if it weren’t for the ‘stupidity of the American voter.’

“It’s no doubt why a law built on deception has failed time and again to live up to its promises. Obamacare accomplishes none of the objectives of real health care reform, but rather increases Americans' dependency on failed federal programs.

“While the President continues to double down on his own failed policies, I will continue to work for real solutions that give Americans increased access to the quality and affordable care they deserve.”
