RENO, NEV. -- Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) today issued the following statement regarding the announcement that the U.S. Postal Service Reno Processing Center will remain open, preserving nearly 300 jobs. The facility had been a target of the USPS decision to close and consolidate post offices and mail processing facilities across the country.
"This is a win for Northern Nevadans both in terms of jobs and service. I appreciate the time that Mark Martinez, USPS manager of the Nevada-Sierra District, spent with me when I met with him in January to express my concerns about the potential closure.
"I'm pleased that the decision was made based on the facts on the ground. With the Reno Processing Center saved, we will continue to do what we can to protect the rural post offices."
