Are you worried about rising costs?

Amodei Analysis

Geopolitical instability, supply shortages, and rising prices have us all rightfully concerned about our economic future. Questions I hear a lot here in Nevada revolve around where America is getting its natural resources, how dependent America is on other countries for basic goods and resources, and America’s overall national security and leadership on the world stage.

Given the impact inflation and supply chain issues have had on our everyday lives, and considering the escalating threats worldwide, particularly by Russia and China, we must prioritize energy independence to meet the economic and security needs we face at home and abroad.

As you may be aware, the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) report shows yet another increase in costs for the goods and items Americans need every day. Per the last CPI report, Americans are paying a shocking 8.5% more for basic goods than they were a year ago. This 8.5% increase is at a 40-year high. Further exemplifying this new economic burden, the average price of gas in Nevada today is $4.85. But while the majority party in Congress has decided to press onward to maximize their political agenda, I have remained focused on what we can do to address this energy, and thereby economic, crisis:

  • Recognizing natural gas produced in America as affordable and “green” energy, and necessary for America to be energy independent, I’m a cosponsor of H.Res. 1148. This bill urges the Biden Administration to remove barriers to the production of natural gas – an action that would seem, to anyone paying attention, like a very reasonable solution.
  • Supporting the safe and responsible development of American energy resources via drilling to address issues surrounding our national security, energy scarcity, and energy poverty, I’m a cosponsor of H.Res. 1101.
