Dear Friend,

The House accomplished a lot this past week, working to advance several important measures. Here are a few bills that may be of interest to you:

House Responds to Long-time Nevada Need

The House took action to pass H.R. 6303, a bipartisan bill that directs the U.S. Postal Service to establish new zip codes for five different locales. This is great news for folks in Storey County who will be the only jurisdiction west of the Mississippi River to receive a new zip code. I’d like to thank Chairman Chaffetz and my colleagues on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee for working hard to get this done for Nevadans.

Increasing Rural Access to Lifesaving Treatments

I commend my colleges in the House for taking action to advance the 21st Century Cures Act, a critical piece of legislation that will make significant reforms to our nation’s mental health system. Specifically, this bill emphasizes telehealth programs which are especially critical to Nevada and other rural areas that lack accesses to sufficient healthcare services. While there is still more work to be done, this bill will greatly improve our nation’s mental health system and increase people’s access to other lifesaving treatments.

Washington Visitors

I recently had the opportunity to visit with my good friend Lori Gilbert during her trip to Washington. Lori serves as the news director for the Elko Broadcasting Company. Thanks for stopping by!

Serving Nevada

Constituent Success Story
Arturo Garzon, a district representative in my Reno office, recently helped a constituent obtain an approved passport after experiencing difficulty through the State Department. Arturo assisted by sending several copies of documents on the constituent's behalf to the National Passport Center. With Arturo’s assistance, this constituent was finally able to submit all required documentation and the passport was expeditiously approved that same day.

My staff and I work for you, the people of the Nevada's 2nd Congressional District. If you are ever having an issue similar to this, or another issue with a federal agency that requires immediate assistance, please give one of my offices a ring. My staff is happy to assist in any way possible.
