While the Administration has managed to accomplish quite a bit over these last eleven months, other external matters unrelated to our agenda in Congress continue to serve as a distraction. However, despite what’s been reported in the media, you might be interested to know our office has continued to work closely with President Trump and members of his Administration on many issues that are important to Nevadans.
In fact, at the beginning of November, I joined a number of my colleagues in the House at Camp David to discuss some of the legislative issues that aren’t receiving any attention as a result of the House Democrat majority being focused on a call to Ukraine. Some of those issues include: the USMCA trade agreement, lowering prescription drug costs, immigration reform, and transportation and infrastructure. We also had the opportunity to discuss some of the legislative successes you often don’t hear about, some of which include: our unemployment rate being the lowest it’s been in half a century, the President recently signing the largest Veterans Affairs budget in history, and paychecks and wages continuing to grow as a direct result of tax reform.
I also had the opportunity last week to join additional Members of the House Republican Conference at the White House for a meeting in the cabinet room with President Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, and acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney. We had a nice and constructive conversation on a number of Western policy issues. More specifically, we discussed some of the Nevada lands bills that will be coming up for consideration, Nevada military expansion projects, wildfires, and fuels management issues.
Overall, November proved to be a very busy month for our office in terms of productive policy discussions with the Administration, and I look forward to continuing to focus on the issues that matter most to you and your family.

Washington Wrap-Up
In case you missed it, last week the House and Senate voted on another continuing resolution to keep the government funded through December 20th, 2019. I voted against this latest makeshift spending bill because quite frankly, as a Member of the House Appropriations Committee, it's an absolute abomination and absolutely disrespectful to the process of funding the government.
Continuing to govern by short-term spending bills and government shutdowns are no way to run our country, because they hurt the people we were sent to Washington to represent. I strongly encourage House and Senate leadership to put politics aside and immediately pass full-year appropriations measures so we can provide families, businesses, our military, and others impacted by government funding with the long-term certainty they deserve.
Finally, we must keep working closely together in order to make progress on the issues that affect us all, so thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you and Nevada’s Second Congressional District in the people’s House. I extend my best wishes to you and your family for a safe and happy Thanksgiving. I also ask that you join me in remembering to give thanks to the brave men and women in uniform who are defending our freedoms overseas and unable to be with their families this year.
