Amodei's Pershing County Lands Bill Passes House Unanimously (2018)
Congressman Mark Amodei was pleased after the House unanimously passed the Pershing County Economic Development and Conservation Act, a bipartisan piece of legislation he reintroduced a year ago. Seventy-five percent of Pershing County is owned by the federal government, with much of this ownership being a checkerboard pattern of lands, hindering the community’s ability to expand opportunities for growth. This bill seeks to sort it out in the name of economic development. The lands would be sold when appropriate for development, with the funds benefiting Nevada schools and other local interests.
