WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) released the following statement regarding the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) pipeline:
"As a former member of the Nevada State Legislature and a strong believer in local and state control in management decisions, my position regarding the inter-basin transfer of water and the SNWA pipeline comes down to states rights.
"The State of Nevada has control and management of water and I believe that is where the decision needs to be made. While plenty of controversy surrounds SNWA and the process of allocating an inter-basin transfer, I am confident that the State Water Engineer has the tools, resources, and experience to make this decision rather than Washington politicians who do not represent the needs and values of Nevadans.
"Involving the federal government in the decision-making process is not something that I support. Administration of Nevada water and associated laws should occur without encroachment from Washington politics or federal land management agencies."

WASHINGTON, D.C. --Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) today issued the following statement in support of his H.R. 3377, the Pine Forest Range Recreational Enhancement Act, which was heard before the Natural Resources Subcommittee on National Parks, Forest and Public Lands:
"The bill would ensure the lands are managed in a way sensitive to the needs of local community stakeholders, including traditional and historic uses, such as ranching, access for fishing, hunting, camping, and other forms of outdoor recreation, as well as fire management. It keeps open roads important to off-highway vehicle users and it conserves the pine forest for future generations.
"Hunters will always have a place in the pine forest to hunt mule deer, pronghorn, bighorn sheep, chukar partridge, and other game. The Blue Lakes complex, as well as the Onion Valley and Knott Creek reservoirs, will continue to be a destination for the thousands of anglers who visit each summer and fall.
"H.R. 3377 is a testament to what can be accomplished when people are focused and committed to a desirable outcome for all. The working group had its disagreements, but it pushed through them and came to a consensus. I am proud of the work that was done by my constituents in Humboldt County and I was honored to bring this legislation before the subcommittee today."
